BOARD BIOGRAPHIES

 

ETHEL M R is President of the Board. Ethel is a resident of Ansonia and a member of the CT Works Southwest Disabilities Task Force. She is the Assisted Services Coordinator at Career Resources in Bridgeport.

THOMAS D is Vice-President of the Board. Tom is a resident of Trumbull.  Tom has taught in the Fairfield Country Day School.  Currently, he is a member of the Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocacy Collaborative, working on handicapped parking awareness.  He has a BA from Ithaca College and is working on an MAT.  Tom has a disability.

NETTIE J is Secretary of the Board. She is a resident of Bridgeport.  In addition to volunteering at DRCFC and being a facilitator for the Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocates, Nettie is an ABCD Policy Council Board Member.  She is also Parent President of her child's daycare program, and a consumer of DRCFC services.

WILLIAM A is Treasurer of the Board. He is a resident of Bridgeport. William is a Day Program Counselor at Bridge House.  He is Pastor at Sword of the Spirit Christian Church and Minister of Music at Immanuel Baptist Church in New Haven.  William is a member of the Keep the Promise Coalition and the Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocates.  He has two immediate family members who have disabilities.

MARGARET A is a resident of Bridgeport.  Margaret holds dual degrees-- a BA In Psychology and a ME in Counseling Psychology.  She has been a Multiple Sclerosis Chapter Director in Norwalk and is a member of the Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocacy Collaborative.

LEON B is a resident of Bridgeport.  Leon is working on his G.E.D., and currently being trained to offer Peer Mentoring for Grades K-8 in one of Bridgeport's Elementary Schools.  He is also working with the Family Re-entry/Fresh Start Program.  He has a disability.

DR. DAVID D is a resident of Ansonia. He is a transitioned (from a nursing facility) individual.  Dr. David D, who has degrees in Nursing, Chiropractic, and an M.S. in Human Nutrition, is re-establishing himself in the community and in the world of work. He is currently affiliated with the Health and Wellness Center of Milford.  David has a disability.

DON F is a resident of Stratford.  He has a B.S. in Economics and serves part-time as a Peer Mentoring Coordinator at The Kennedy Center. Don facilitates a weekly depression support group, and he regularly makes presentations regarding personal experience with illness/recovery.

THOMAS G III is a resident of Bridgeport.  He has a B.A. from the College of New Rochelle and a Masters in Educational Administration/Art Education jointly from Parsons School of Art.  Tom has taught in New York City schools and now paints full-time.

BOB G is a resident of Bridgeport and is a member of the Orange Chamber, Norwalk Chamber, and Milford Chamber. Additionally, Bob is affiliated with King’s Pantry and Healing Tree development, and his areas of expertise include networking and fundraising.

VERNA K is a resident of Bridgeport.  Verna has been a much-decorated police officer for 20 years.  She has a special interest in preventing drug abuse and in senior citizen needs and has founded special programs for those interest areas.  Verna is a member of numerous civic organizations.  She is the mother of 11 children, and has 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Verna has a disability and is a member of the Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocacy Collaborative.

GERALD P is a resident of Stratford. Jerry has been a valued volunteer at DRCFC.  He received his A.S. in 2001, and is currently working on a M.E.R.G.E Certificate. Jerry has worked on a 'warm-line', and is a member of NAMI.  He has a disability.  

JOSSIE P is a resident of Bridgeport. She was awarded an A.S. in Human Services from Housatonic Community College. Jossie is currently on leave from her Bachelor's Program at Southern Connecticut State University.  She has interned and volunteers at DRCFC.  Jossie is responsible (through her advocacy initiative) for the accessible ramp at the Bridgeport Post Office.  She has a disability.

Thomas s is a resident of New Haven and serves as a Grant Developer/Writer. He has been responsible for developing over $10 million in funded grants for his employer, the WorkPlace, Bridgeport’s Workforce Initiative (One-Stop Center). Tom has collaborated with the Center for several years.

LORETTA W is a resident of Bridgeport. She is the Americans With Disabilities (ADA) Coordinator for the City of Bridgeport.  Loretta has been a member of the ADA Coalition of Connecticut, and she also serves as a facilitator for the Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocates.

ANTHONY L is a resident of New Haven and is the Executive Director of DRCFC. He has a disability.

STEPHANIE M is a resident of Milford and is the Assistant Director and an Assistive Technology Consultant.  She has a disability.

FRAN S is a resident of Stratford and is the Coordinator of Information Services and an Assistive Technology Consultant.  She is the parent of a child with a disability.

VICTOR X is a resident of Seymour and is the MFP Transition Coordinator. He has a disability.

YOHANNA W is the SFTP Transition Coordinator.

GLEN C is a resident of Hamden and is an Independent Living Advocate.  He has a disability.

LARRY R is a resident of Bridgeport and is an Independent Living Advocate.  He has a disability.

LESLIE D is an Independent Living Advocate.

DOROTHY H is a resident of Bridgeport and is an Independent Living Advocate and an Assistive Technology Consultant. She has a disability.

SEAN H is an Independent Living Advocate for Ticket To Work.

NETTIE J is a resident of Bridgeport and is the Coordinator of Volunteer Services (a VISTA position). She is a consumer of DRCFC services.

SEAN K is a resident of Monroe. He is a volunteer at DRCFC and is the Website and Social Media Manager. He has a disability.

GREG D is the Bookkeeper.
