Greater Bridgeport

Disability Advocates

WHO WE ARE: Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocates is a local consumer-driven advocacy group formed by The Disability Resource Center of Fairfield County (DRCFC), and The Connecticut Disability Advocacy Collaborative (CDAC). The Connecticut Disability Advocacy Collaborative (CDAC) is a new statewide organization of cross-disability groups which seeks to advocate for disability-specific legislation. It has regional organizations in many parts of the state. Both DRCFC and CDAC believe that "we can make better progress if we work together."

WHAT WE DO: The purpose of the advocacy group is to learn about issues affecting people with disabilities (such as the ADA), to learn skills of self and group advocacy, and to advocate for change - whether it be better enforcement of handicapped parking, or legislation affecting barrier removal.

HOW TO JOIN: For more information about Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocates, please call DRCFC at (203) 378-6977 (V), (203) 378-3248 (TDD), and ask for Larry Robinson.

A copy of the Greater Bridgeport Disability Advocates brochure (in PDF format) can be downloaded here. The brochure may be posted and distributed to consumers with disabilities. (For optimum printing results, use both sides of a letter-sized sheet of paper, and then fold into thirds to create the proper brochure.)
